Bloody Butcher Cornmeal

$5.00

Bloody Butcher corn was developed in Virginia in the early to mid 1800’s, when settlers mixed their white corn with Native Americans red corn creating this heirloom variety. Bloody Butcher corn gets its name from the ground corn being white with dark red flecks throughout. Despite its name, this cornmeal has a delicious rich and nutty flavor.

This beautiful color and unique flavor profile is perfect for making delicious cornbread, tasty corn muffins, crackers, hushpuppies, giving a delightful crunch to your preferred vegetable breading recipes, and more!  It also makes a great inclusion in breads.

Bloody Butcher corn is a true culinary delight! Stone-ground cornmeal is less processed and a healthy way to eat grains because it retains the whole grain when ground, lending an excellent flavor and nutritional profile to recipes.

Because our product is stone-ground and has the whole grain, it will stay fresher longer when refrigerated, but can also have a shelf life of many months if kept in a reasonably cool location. Sold in one pound bags.
